Partnership enhances delivery of high-quality laboratory services to local physicians and patients

SALT LAKE CITY – November 7, 2008– MountainStar Clinical Laboratories has added Ogden Regional Medical Center to its network. Now, three Utah hospitals in the MountainStar family will combine their local high-quality laboratory testing capabilities with the esoteric testing, connectivity solutions and support services offered by Pathology Associates Medical Laboratories (PAML).

MountainStar Clinical Laboratories is a joint venture partnership between PAML and St. Mark’s Hospital, Lakeview Hospital and Ogden Regional Medical Center. PAML and MountainStar entered into an initial agreement in November of 2007 to enhance outreach laboratory services for physicians in Utah and the patients they serve. "This partnership paves the way for a higher level of patient care in our community."

The innovative "Outreach Advantage®" program developed by PAML includes a suite of laboratory IT products and services. It will be deployed to connect the clinical laboratories at three MountainStar hospitals. The addition of Ogden Regional Medical Center will further support the joint venture partnership.

As an added benefit, approximately 85 percent of the testing completed by MountainStar Clinical Laboratories will be performed in Utah, maintaining jobs and healthcare dollars within the community.
