Shipment Tracker Software
With 7 states to cover… flight delays and cancellations all play a significant role in turnaround time for PAML. In the same vein, road construction and weather are also big problems to contend with for our ground shipments.
Having a seamless delivery system in place is critical to not only our success but our client’s success as well. Keeping customers satisfied with innovative, forward-thinking services has been PAML’s legacy for more than 50 years. In an ever-changing environment, we understand how imperative it is to operate with precision and dexterity.
Shipment Tracker is a powerful web-based tracking tool designed by PAML’s logistics leadership to help manage our logistics network and provide the highest level of customer service. Designed to track both air and ground specimen shipments from initiation to final delivery, the system features a set of robust tools which ensure full accountability for all specimens until they are delivered to PAML’s main laboratory.
“With 4 different airlines and 72 contract carriers to manage on a daily basis, this system is the lifeline of our business,” said Annesia Oleaga, PAML Logistics Contract Courier Supervisor. “Efficiencies are gained across the entire shipment cycle by providing current shipment status. Not only does it boost productivity, it has also automated a number of processes that used to be done manually.”
The master database for the system contains all scheduled air and ground shipments and is updated on a routine basis with the number of packages in the shipment, air-bill number, and the time of arrival. This then creates the environment for our internal operations to react to known events and communicates with internal operations of how things need to flow.
According to Brian Petty, PAML Eastern Region Logistics Manager, “Not so long ago, we used rely on phone calls from our shippers to let us know when a flight was expected to arrive; where this system provides the information in advance to the dispatchers and couriers to make them aware of what shipments are expected. This system also updates the courier and operational staff of any cancelled or delayed shipments so that we can adjust our pickup schedule accordingly.”
A new addition to this improved tracking system is a 42 inch HD screen that has been placed in the central processing area of the laboratory. The screen provides staff and management with a greater degree of in-transit visibility and increases the efficiency of work flow. With a quick glance at the huge screen, everyone has a continuously updated overview of the movement of specimens as they are making their way to PAML’s main laboratory.
With the latest advances in information technology and a full network of highly professional drivers and staff to assist in any possible emergency, PAML can and will get the job done.
