Hospital Outreach Programs

Being hospital-owned, PAML understands the challenges of running a hospital laboratory. By partnering with PAML—an esoteric reference lab—your hospital lab can significantly expand its effective test menu and offer additional services to draw work from general and specialist physicians throughout the community.

Nationally Recognized Partnerships
With quantifiable success, PAML is recognized as a national leader in hospital partnerships and laboratory joint ventures.

  • Our outreach partnerships with hospitals range in scope and complexity from simple testing relations to full LLC joint ventures combining inpatient and outpatient testing.
  • Our experience encompasses geographically and demographically diverse regions; from small, self-contained markets to the largest metropolitan communities.

Industry Leader
PAML has become an industry leader in hospital partnerships and joint ventures because of our:

  • Expertise in developing cutting-edge laboratory management systems, including state-of-the-art automation and support services.
  • Unique set of products and services that eliminate the barriers many hospitals face in trying to develop an outreach program on their own.
  • Our ability to truly “partner” with hospital laboratories without competing for your routine testing business.

PAML Outreach Principles

  • Healthcare delivery is a local issue – not a national one.
  • A well-positioned local laboratory system can compete effectively with the national laboratories.
  • Laboratory systems integrated with other healthcare services have a competitive advantage over independent outpatient laboratories.
  • Inpatient and outpatient laboratory testing can be combined cost-effectively in a hospital environment – with improved quality and service to physicians.
  • Physicians prefer one system to access both inpatient and outpatient clinical laboratory information.
  • Increased testing volume lowers per-unit inpatient and outpatient testing costs.
  • Capital investment in lab testing equipment is fully utilized.
  • Physician relationships with the hospital are enhanced.

  • Competitive analysis
  • Strategic business plan creation and execution

The foundation of a strong business plan is developing an accurate market assessment. Unlike other reference laboratories that promise outreach support, PAML has a long-term record of success in this area. PAML can assess market size and the share of key competitors, identify key payers, provide reimbursement analysis – and identify barriers to success. PAML’s assistance with business plan development includes analysis of competitors, client satisfaction research, co-marketing, projections for income growth and expenses, and patient service center support.

PAML has a long-standing commitment to local healthcare delivery and strongly supports community hospitals. In association with PAML, hospitals help keep scarce healthcare resources in the community they serve. We can help evaluate and understand your specific target market and bring more local laboratory business to the hospital while providing seamless reference laboratory services.

LabDex: Joint Test Directory of Services
A web-based joint test directory of services, LabDex combines our client’s in-house test information with PAML’s test information to create a single, comprehensive and easily searchable test directory. It’s custom-built with your name and logo and provides instant online access to laboratory testing information for any web-based PC anytime.

Hospital clients are responsible for keeping their test information current. In turn, PAML takes responsibility for providing the LabDex product an up-to-date list of PAML’s menu of published procedures. Test descriptions are updated when critical changes are made. These updates to the test description—as well as descriptions of new assays—are active within 2 hours after implementation. New tests are added to the directory as soon as they are available for ordering.

LabDex helps your physicians know what, how and when to order. No more checking multiple directories or making phone calls for specimen requirements. Every online listing includes:

  • Order, test and CPT codes
  • Turnaround time
  • Specimen requirements
  • Methodology
  • Normal ranges
  • Routine updates

PAML charges a fee for initial setup of LabDex, as well as a monthly maintenance fee.
