Mycobacteriology
PAML’s laboratory was designated as one of six TB Core Laboratories for Washington by the State Public Health Laboratory in 1999. The other five laboratories are located on the west side of the state. The selection was based on the laboratory's ability to meet the CDC's recommendations on technology, test result turn-around time, safety, volume of testing, and extent of services.

All mycobacteriology testing is performed in a biosafety level 3 facility.
